When I lived in Portugal some time ago I was intrigued with the cork tree which has some amazing properties and with the bark being ecologically harvested, commercially. The tree known as the Cork Oak (Quercus suber), is the basis of many cork products including the cork in your wine bottle, tiles, gaskets, dartboards and many other sports and household products.
Growing up to 65 tall, unlike other oak trees, the cork oak is an evergreen and does not drop its leaves. The bark from the trees is removed for processing and this operation is repeated every 9 years as it grows back again, without damage to the tree – they can live for up to 200 years, some even longer, so here we have a super eco-product.
Urban Marque are now marketing a new product on behalf of CorkSol UK Ltd called THERMOCORK® that is a 100% sustainable resource. This amazing product not only replaces old fashioned render but provides a render finish that includes both thermal (insulation) and acoustic reduction in noise and vibration.
The application onto any recommended substrate (we recommend a cement board on treated battens), will provide a seamless breathable layer, reducing thermal bridging and has an elastic property which is ideal for any timber building, including our Mobile Homes and Garden Lodges as a render finish where mild differential expansion may occur.
Manufactured from Cork particles, solvent free resins, stabilisers and fillers, all chemical free and water-based. Another added benefit of THERMOCORK ® is its natural fire resistance (Euro Class B) and is available in a range of 26 different colours – So it’s no wonder Kevin McCloud from Grand Designs chose THERMOCORK spray cork coating as one of his Green Heroes….A 100% natural, renewable, recyclable, and biodegradable product.
Urban Marque Ltd are proud to be working with CorkSol UK Ltd of West Yorkshire as one of their recognised *suppliers and installers. We are unable to offer this product on a supply only basis.
